The Art of Living –----------- A Ten Part Series by a Modern Day Yogi –------------- Part 5: Compassion
The Art of Living – Part 5: Compassion
Teaching is an art and a science. It
is the most challenging role in our society. If one person can make a profound
impact on another and inspire them towards self-discover this benefits the
entire world. It would not be possible for the world to enjoy the higher
expressions of human coexistence without our teachers. All of our great leaders
credit at least one teacher for their inspiration to pursue a career or other
noble path. The inner teacher is your “spirit” or your intuition. I believe
that we all have a built-in teacher to help us learn how to live our best lives and have compassion for others as we take our unique journey towards inner peace
and happiness. We should never stop learning from the teacher within. And hopefully we find compassion as the highest
and most rewarding teaching of our life.
Here are four guiding principles on
living compassionately from one of the great teachers
Thich Nhat Hanh:
- I am committed to cultivating compassion and learning ways serve in the community.
- I am committed to cultivating loving kindness and learning ways to work for the well-being of my fellow man.
- I am committed to cultivating loving speech and deep listening in order to bring joy and happiness to others.
- I am committed to cultivating good health; including physical and mental, for myself and as an example for others, by practicing mindful eating, drinking, and consuming.
