10 Secret Tips for the Best Results in Your Yoga Practice
When you start a yoga practice it is a very personal journey. The ten tips are reminders and encouragement to help you enjoy your yoga practice each time you step onto your mat.
1. Don't compare yourself to others during your yoga class. Yoga is not a competition.
2. Yoga is not to be endured along with pain. When you find yourself in physical pain in a yoga posture your should stop.
3. If you turn right and the instructor said turn left, allow yourself to smile and go on to the best of your ability.
4. Relax during the resting postures and anytime during a class if you need to take a break sit or lay down on the mat.
5. Remember to breath when you are moving into, holding and exiting your yoga postures.
6. During standing balance postures focus the eyes on one point in front of you that is not moving, or just focus on a point a few feet ahead of you on the floor.
7. If you are not able to hold a posture for one minute or thirty seconds, exit the posture without any self-criticism. And during the next class try to hold for a few seconds longer than the last time.
8. Be mindful of your body and sometimes instead of a faster paced, or super hot yoga class, try a gentle or restorative yoga class.
9, Find a studio and teacher that will remember to ask you how your are feeling prior to the start of the class.
