The Art of Living ----------- A Ten Part Series by a Modern Day Yogi ----------- Part 10: LOVE
The Art of Living – Part 10: LOVE
What is this feeling called love? It seems to live at the
root of all that we do in our lives. Painters love to paint and cooks love to
cook. And it seems that anything that you pour your heart into is something you
love to do. Love is a feeling you could have for someone special. A mother has
love for her child. A seemingly unconditional love comes with parenthood. As a
parent you try to do all you can to raise your child to be ready to live a happy
and productive life. But your child may have a tough time finding their way.
This is when you encourage and support your child using the
motivation of love. And as a grandparent you may feel a deep love that is amplified
with the birth and time spent with a grandchild.
Love can inspire us to take action. It is motivating. It
propels one beyond the boundaries of doubt and fear. Love empowers one to take
a stand for what you believe in. Love is described with statements such as: Love
conquers all; Love can heal a broken heart; Love is blind. Love hurts. These
are all popular metaphors for the emotion of love.
Love hurts sometimes too. In the sense that you can love or
be in love and find that your love is not coming back to you in the same
measure as you are extending it to someone else. Or when a loved one passes
over from life to death you weep for lost love. It can help lift someone up
from the depths of despair. It can shed light on the areas in our lives that we
could change if we wanted to or with a little help from a friend or family
member their love can help see you through rough times in your life.
Love is powerful. And everyone is endowed with this love
power. It is as strong and precious as anything made on earth. It is one of the
natural wonders of the human condition. Do
you choose to use your love for good or otherwise? Do you waste this precious
and abundant resource? As we contemplate this powerful emotion that we all
possess consider the life you live every day. Remember to find time in your day
to give and be open to receive the most precious give of all, love?
Namaste,
